Rematch with Alexander Emelianenko is cancelled

The organisers of the LEGEND Fighting Show made an official statement at a briefing this morning: LEGENDA Promotion breaks its contract with the fighter.

According to the show organisers, in view of the recent developments Alexander is unprepared for the fight.

Ruslan Suleimanov, President of LEGENDA Promotion:

Alexander has demonstrated an absolutely unprofessional and undisciplined approach to his preparation. After our internal investigation and an assessment of his psychoemotional state we had no choice but accept the fact that the fighter is not properly prepared.

Timur Soloviev confirms:

As a fighting show responsible for the quality of each announced bout, the show where each bout is presented as a fight of equals, we cannot afford taking risks and letting our supporters down. We will not have two a priori unequal opponents fight on the arena.
Our task today is to find a top Russian fighter. The replacement will be announced in 2 to 3 days. We are already having discussions with several fighters.

Ruslan:

There are no guarantees that the next time the fighter will be well prepared. The main fight of the night will take place. All the other bouts will be held as planned. We have been looking forward to this fight, making arrangements, nurturing the project for over six months. We are losing a lot of money. And yet we are taking this step - breaking our contract with Alexander. We do realize that on November 8 he will not be able to demonstrate a competitive fight.

Mirko, for example, has been training for 3 months now, he and his team have reviewed all of the opponent's fights, analyzed them, and Mirko's sparring partner is working in AE's style, rehearsing all of Alexander's fights. Only we, of all the other promotions, could take this fight to Russia. But in spite of our huge financial losses, we care about the quality of the bouts, quality matters much more. We are completely disappointed with Alexander, and we have not been aware of such approach to preparation on his part.
